A living archive preserving the lives of the people who rest beneath the trees of Chloe Historic Cemetery.

The Faces of Chloe Historic Cemetery Archival Collection is an ongoing historical initiative of the Chloe African American Cemetery Preservation Association (CAACPA) dedicated to preserving the lives of those laid to rest at Chloe Historic Cemetery.

 

Through photographs, historical records, newspaper accounts, family contributions, and descendant stories, each archival profile restores a name, a face, and a legacy to the historical record. Together, these individual stories form a collective history of the African American, Creole, and Indigenous communities whose lives helped shape Southwest Louisiana.

 

As new photographs and family histories are discovered, this collection will continue to grow—ensuring that future generations remember not only where these individuals are buried, but who they were.
